"This goose is cooked!" Where does this phrase come from? It is attributed to the story of Jan Hus (Hus is Czech for goose). Jan Hus was a fascinating figure who was in many ways a forerunner to the Reformers we are familiar with. Living over a century before the Reformation began, Hus worked for reform in the Czech Church to push back against abuses of power and neglect of doctrine. Ultimately, he was martyred and burned at the stake for his witness to the faith of Scripture.
